9 Tips To Finding the Best Hair Transplant Surgeon

When a patient is ready to have a hair transplant, they often assume that the hair they have remaining on their scalp will need to be shaved. This is not always the case as you will find out in this educational and informative video from Dr. Parsa Mohebi.  He shares the reasoning behind patients needing to shave their head (or not).

Join Dr. Mohebi in his Los Angeles surgical center as he addresses the question about whether or not patients need to shave their head before their hair transplant. He will also discuss the steps patients need to take when cutting their hair after the decision is made to undergo a hair transplant in Los Angeles or anywhere else in the country. Take a trip behind the scenes for this exclusive video about shaving the head before hair restoration with Dr. Parsa Mohebi.

Do I need to Shave my Head before Hair Transplant?

When it comes to a hair transplant, many people do not want to have the procedure because they don’t want to shave their head and lose what it left of their hair. Dr. Mohebi is able to give patients that have a sufficient amount of hair left on their scalp the option of not completely shaving their head. Layer shaving before FUE transplant is an option for patients with hair that is long enough to lift up over the certain portion of the scalp where the hair grafts will be placed during FUE hair transplant.

After the treated area is shaved and the hair grafts are placed in the scalp, the hair that was lifted is combed downward so it covers the area where the hair grafts were placed in the scalp during the hair transplant procedure. Layer shaving before FUE covers the hair grafts to the point where the average person is not able to tell that any kind of hair restoration procedure took place. The staff of Parsa Mohebi Hair Restoration, with hair restoration centers in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills and San Francisco, shows you how layer shaving before FUE works in this informative and educational behind the scenes video.

Hair Wash After Hair Transplant

The procedure known as “double edged trichophytic closure” is an updated method for donor wound closure. Two sided trichotomy, or double edged, significantly decreases the post-surgical scar visibility on the scalp after a hair transplant surgery. This method works by enabling hair follicles to grow onto the scar.

Hair Restoration Surgery is rapidly evolving procedure and at Parsa Mohebi Hair Restoration, we are consistently improving our approach regularly to enhance the quality of transplanted hair results while also decreasing any possibility of problems.

This method of closure helps minimize the width of the top layer of skin (epithelium) that is removed from the edges of the donor wound. This method allows the hair to grow onto the wound on both edges and minimizes the contrast between the scar (which has no hair) and the surrounding scalp (which has full hair density). This method is also used for donor scar revisions in patients who have had wide donor scars from previous hair restoration surgeries.

By using the double edged trichophytic closure method we regularly see significantly less donor scars which are detectable, and are able to minimize the risk of folliculitis and ingrown hairs found in the donor area. These are two common complications of trichotomy found with the previous traditional methods.

The Laxometer II is the only device that objectively measures the mobility and laxity of the scalp in order to minimize complications that would result from removing too much skin in the donor area.  The device is extremely simple can also be used to evaluate the effectiveness of recommended scalp exercises done before the procedure. In this video, Dr. Parsa Mohebi, Medical Director of Parsa Mohebi Hair Restoration, shows how to perform this evaluation on a prospective patient.!

Double edged trichophytic closure is a new approach to donor wound closure. Double edged, or two sided trichotomy, helps to minimize the visibility of the scalp scar after hair transplant surgery. It works through enabling some of the hair follicles to grow into the scar.   Double edged trichophytic closure helps to minimize the width of the top skin layer (epithelium) that is being removed from each edge of the donor wound. This approach allows hair to grow into the wound from both edges and thus minimizes the contrast between scar (with no hair) and surrounding scalp (with 100% hair density). This method could also be used for donor scar revision in patients who have wide donor scars from previous hair restorations.   By employing double edged trichophytic closure we consistently see less detectable donor scars and are able to minimize the risk of folliculitis or ingrown hairs in the donor area. These are two common complications of trichotomy found with traditional methods.   Hair Restoration Surgery is evolving rapidly and we at Parsa Mohebi Hair Restoration are consistently refining our approach to improve the quality of transplanted hair while minimizing the possibility of complications.

Receding Hairlines and Baldness

Males typically begin developing receding hairlines in their late 20’s. While the first few centimeters of hair loss may only signify the maturation of a person’s scalp, we encourage sufferers to learn about risk factors and how to fight against a receding hairline by watching this free informative video.
'>

How to Stop a Receding Hairline

When you notice the beginning stages of your receding hairline it is important to evaluate all options of treatment. While it is easiest to tackle a receded hairline in the beginning stages with use of hair loss medication, advanced stages of hair loss may require transplants such as Follicular Unit Transplantation. In this video, Dr. Mohebi explains the different stages of hair loss and when it is appropriate to employ use of hair loss medications. While no two cases are identical, all hair loss sufferers should do their research online and attend a consultation with a qualified hair restoration surgeon to determine which option is best for them. Your hair restoration surgeon will instruct you on medication use and help to determine whether or not you are eligible for a hair transplant procedure. * Dr. Parsa Mohebi was selected by eHow.com as the informative speaker for hair loss and balding. How to Treat a Receding Hairline

Not all hair loss treatments can naturally stimulate your hair growth. Some substances such as palmetto and vitamin/mineral fortified shampoos can help to stimulate this natural hair growth. Just as each individual case varies, not all hair loss sufferers are recommended to use these products. To determine which hair loss treatment is best for you, Parsa Mohebi Hair Restoration recommends attending a complimentary consultation with a qualified hair restoration surgeon in your area. Based on your medical history, current hair loss and goals, your physician will be able to inform you of all treatment options as well as recommend the opportunity best suited to achieve results closest to your goals. * Dr. Parsa Mohebi was selected by eHow.com as the informative speaker for hair loss and balding.
