Dr. Mohebi Elected to Board of Directors for Industry Organization – Info Here

The month of December kicked off with some exciting news for the team at Parsa Mohebi Hair Restoration as it was announced that Dr. Mohebi was elected to the Board of Directors of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery. The term of his Board membership lasts for three years and beings on January 1st, 2023.

American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery – What is It?

To put it simply, the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery (ABHRS) is committed to hair restoration excellence and safety by ensuring that those who perform hair transplants have habits that are “consistent with safe, aesthetically sensitive hair restoration surgery.”

Dr. Mohebi Elected as member of American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery

The idea for the ABHRS first started to come into existence during a seminar on hair replacement surgery in Chicago in 1995. After a group of speakers started to discuss the need to form a certifying board for hair transplant surgery, the discussions continued for another year. In 1996, the American Hair Loss Council (AHLC) issued an invitation to all of the medical specialty groups with physicians who performed hair restoration surgery to take part in a meeting about the topic. The presidents of these surgical organizations were invited to send three representatives each to the meeting in order to talk about the development and implementation of a certification process for hair transplant surgeons.

Since the AHLC was receiving multiple inquiries from the public regarding how to know if a physician was actually competent in performing hair transplants, these representatives met twice before recommending that an independent examining body be formed to create a credentialing and examination process that would make the public aware of the skills and education of a surgeon performing the procedure.

The first formal board meeting was held in Nashville in 1996 and the meeting included the election of officers, the appointing of committee chairpersons, and the development of an oral and written examination that would help to identify and statistically validate surgeons who were following industry standards in performing the procedure and ensuring the safety of patients.

Dr. Mohebi – Why He Wanted to Join the Board of Directors

When asked why he wanted to serve on the Board of Directors for the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery, Dr. Mohebi said, “The safety and well-being of my patients has always been a priority for me, and I also want to make sure patients across the country are getting the care and results they deserve when it comes to hair restoration surgery.”

The doctor went on to add, “I was the chair of the 26th World Congress of Hair Restoration as well as the first chair of the FUE Research Committee. I have been an examiner for the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery. I also devote time each week to researching the study of new hair restoration techniques to see if any of the proposed treatments can provide results that are healthy and natural in appearance along with determining the overall level of safety involved with the methods being researched and tested.”

As a board member of the ABHRS, Dr. Mohebi wants to make it a priority to maintain the professional standards of the organization and to also examine the knowledge and skill level of both established surgeons and doctors who are just entering the medical field of hair transplants. He wants to “ensure the board becomes widely recognized and its reputation expanded to bring an increased amount of credibility to our field of medicine along with the doctors who are performing hair restoration on a regular basis.”

Dr. Mohebi mentioned he also appreciates the fact that the ABHRS also offers international surgeons the chance to have their certificates say, “International Board of Hair Restoration Surgery.” According to Dr. Mohebi, “The international certification means that surgeons across the globe recognize the need for proper training and the same set of industry standards so patients, no matter where they are located, can feel confident that their surgeon of choice has the necessary skills, training, and experience to safely perform a hair transplant.”

Dr. Mohebi – What are His Duties as a Board Member?

As stated on their website, the exam administered by the ABHRS “stands as the only psychometrically and statistically validated examination dedicated to the specialty of hair restoration surgery.”

As part of his duties as a new member of the board of the ABHRS, Dr. Mohebi will participate as an examiner during the annual certifying examination process, and he will take part in item writing assignments. He will also follow the by-laws of the organization and work to expand the reputation of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery in the eyes of the public.

Dr. Mohebi says he is “both excited and ready to get started with this exciting position. I look forward to working with my fellow board members and helping the organization evolve and grow in the coming years.”
