African American FUE Hair Transplant with Travellini (Mamba)

For many years, it was thought that African Americans would not have successful results with Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). However, with new techniques, Dr. Mohebi is able to do FUE transplants on African Americans as easily as anyone else.

In this case, Dr. Mohebi will perform the treatment on a young African American male with isolated crown baldness. The front does not need any treatment and the crown area will be restored with 1500 FUE to eliminate baldness.

His Exam Results:

  • Hair Loss Class: Isolated Crown Balding
  • Hair Color: Black
  • Skin tone: Dark
  • Hair Character: Curly
  • Hair Thickness: Thick
  • Donor Density: 1.7 (less than average)

While doing the procedure, Dr. Mohebi is sure to follow the direction and distribution of the hair. For African American hair, the curvature of the hair constantly changes, but a pattern must still be followed in order to make results look natural. The Trivellini from Mamba Instruments is used here for extraction, which is a beneficial technique to use with curly hair.

Once the procedure is done, notice that with just over 1500 FUE grafts, the donor site is clean and there is even distribution as well as density that will result in full coverage of the crown baldness. Success!
