Can I cut my hair before having a procedure?
We prefer that you come with your hair
as long as possible. In some cases, we may need to trim your hair to help us perform the procedure, and cutting your hair prior to the procedure will give us less to work with.
How many times a day should I do a scalp exercise and for how long?
The doctor may specify the exact amount of time and the frequency of the scalp exercises before a strip hair transplant or scar revision procedure. However, most people can follow a routine of doing it 10 times a day, 2 minutes each time. That equals to 20 minutes of exercise every day. This should be started at least 2 weeks before the procedure unless specified otherwise.
Do I need to stop taking Rogaine or hair loss medication before the procedure?
No; taking Rogaine or hair los medication is not a problem.
How soon before the procedure should I stop taking aspirin?
Aspirin generally needs to be stopped 10 days before any procedure, but please consult your primary care physician when you schedule your procedure. Your primary doctor will be able to assess your own medical needs more fully.
When can I dye my hair? Before or after?
Many of our patients dye their hair regularly. If this is the case, we recommend that you dye your hair 2 days before your hair transplant. Fresh dye can actually help our technician to see your hair, and to harvest hair more effectively for transplant. If you plan to dye your hair again after the procedure, you will need to wait 2 weeks after your procedure.
What are the regulations for alcohol consumption? Should I stop drinking before the procedure and/or after?

You need to stop smoking the day before your procedure, and refrain from smoking for 5 days after your procedure.
I take several medications. Do I need to stop taking them before I have my procedure? How long before?
You usually will not need to stop the medications that you take on a regular basis, unless specified by the doctor. Be sure to consult with your primary care physician, and ask us if you have a question about a specific drug.
Is there a specific age to have a hair transplant?
There are no strict guidelines for age when it comes to having a hair transplant. During your consultation, the doctor will evaluate all aspects relating to your medical care, including your age. If the doctor decides you are a qualified candidate, you can undergo the procedure, no matter what your age.
What is the recovery time after the hair transplant?
Full recovery—meaning that the wound is completely healed, and pain and discomfort are gone—takes just two weeks. However, you will be fully functional the day after the procedure, and most patients can go back to work the next day, unless the doctor advises otherwise.
When will I see the results from my procedure?
You will start to see results between 3 months to one year after having your procedure. Full results are usually seen around 8 months.
Is there a guarantee on the procedure?
We use the most updated techniques and methods in our practice and work hard to make sure our patients are happy with their results. However, there is no guarantee on the outcome of any medical procedure. If you are interested in seeing the results of other patients we have worked with, you can visit our website to see before and after pictures, as well as videos.
Can I speak to a patient who has had great results with your office? Can I meet with this patient in person?
Yes, this can certainly be arranged. Many of our patients are willing to share their hair restoration experience with you. We will need to contact them first and will let you know how to reach them, as soon as we have permission from the patient.
I live out off state. Do you pay for travel expenses?
We understand that many of our patients travel
from very far away to receive treatment in our offices. In order to help defray the cost of travel expenses we offer up to $500 for travel expenses and lodging fees for those who travel more than 100 miles.
Do you provide patients with a hotel room for after the procedure? How many nights?
If you live more than 50 miles from our surgical office for your procedure, a one-night hotel stay is provided free of charge along with transportation to and from our office.
I recently had an FUT procedure, and was told not to bend my head too much. Why can’t I move my head?
It is very important to follow post-operative procedures
given to you by the doctor. Your wounds from the procedure will be healing for the first few weeks after the procedure, and avoiding movement minimizes the amount of traction on the donor wound. This will help your hair transplant heal properly.
