A hair transplant is not a “one size fits all” procedure that is as simple as calling a doctor and making an appointment. You need to do proper research to determine if a hair transplant is the best solution for achieving your desired look. At Parsa Mohebi Hair Restoration, we like to educate our patients in person as well as online.
Although we see patients on a regular basis, we realize that some questions arise at times other than our scheduled consultation appointments. That’s why we created this section as an information resource and guide for you to learn more about your hair transplant options as well as the steps involved in preparing for the surgery.
Hair Transplant Consultation – Your consultation appointment is a great opportunity for you to ask your questions in an intimate setting with Dr. Mohebi. We’ll discuss your past medical history and current medications as well as conduct a hair and scalp examination to make sure you are a good candidate for hair transplant. This is also the time you will discuss your overall hair restoration goals with the doctor as he crafts a master plan to give you the hair of your dreams.
Consultation Options – Worried that you live too far away for an in-person consultation? We offer phone consultation appointments as well as consultation via Skype.
Preparation Tips – Once you’ve decided to undergo a hair transplant, it’s important that you properly prepare for the surgery. Eliminating certain medications from your everyday use, scalp exercises and avoiding gels or styling products are just a few of the steps you need to follow as you prepare for the procedure.
Pre-Op Instructions – The most important thing you can do before your hair transplant is relax and enjoy the process. You are taking a big step in changing your self-image and should enjoy the journey. You may need to stop taking some medications as well as avoid alcohol and smoking before the surgery. On the day of the procedure, please dress comfortably and have a friend or family member on hand to drive you home after the surgery.
Post-Op Instructions – You will likely leave our office with a dressing around your head in order to keep the pressure on the donor area. You need to wear it until you return to our office the next day when we will show you how to properly wash and care for your transplanted hair. Each patient is different so please contact our office with any questions or concerns about pain or swelling in the days following your surgery. We will provide you with a complete list of post-op instructions to ensure you have a comfortable and complete recovery in the weeks and months following the procedure.
Hair Wash After Transplant – Learning to wash your hair following a transplant is a vital part of maintaining the results from the surgery. You will visit our office the day after your procedure where we will teach you how to properly wash your hair. You will also be given special shampoo as well as a reusable sponge to care for your hair and scalp.
While we hope that the above categories help answer many of your questions during the hair restoration journey, we realize there are plenty of other questions that might come to mind. Don’t see the answer to your question? Contact our office and one of our staff members will be happy to assist you.
